Ted Gragg’s first novel Puma is indicative of the author. His ancestors fled Scotland to avoid persecution following the British victory over the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie at the Battle of Culloden in 1746 and settled in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. These Scottish ancestors supported the American cause during the American Revolution against England in 1775 and the cause of the Southern Confederacy in 1860.
Ted Gragg, a veteran, served with the U.S. Air Force, worked as a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer for South Carolina, and a training counselor and range technical officer for the National Rifle Association. He currently serves as CEO of Myrtle Beach Indoor Shooting Range where he continues to pursue his hands on love affair with firearms and military history.
His former writings include many short stories for wildlife and hunting sports periodicals as well as technical manuals and historical research papers. His search for an elusive Confederate riverine gunboat scuttled in 1865 on South Carolina’s Great Pedee River led to the successful founding of the C.S.S. Pedee Research and Recovery Team. Some of this team’s work is highlighted in the up-coming sequel to Puma.
Ted is married to the former Connie Vaughn of Texas. Together, in their off time, they continue to build and manage their private wildlife preserve near the South Carolina coast.
